There are many ways to be a superhero to your children but there are also ways of being one to their grandparents or anyone who is elderly.
It’s difficult to identify someone having a stroke right after it happens but there are ways to determine this by remembering the first three letters in the word stroke:
S – Ask the person to Smile
T – Ask the person to Talk a speak a simple sentence (“It is sunny outside”). Also, ask the person to stick their Tongue straight out…if their tongue comes out crooked or goes to one side or the other, it’s a sign of stroke.
R – Ask the person to Raise both arms
If the person has trouble with any of these tasks, call your nearest local emergency number immediately to report these symptoms.
Remember: if you can get a stroke victim to a hospital for treatment within 3 hours of the stroke event, the effects of a stroke are almost 100% reversible.
