If you live in or around the New York City area, you don't want to miss the Big Apple Comic Con from Friday through Sunday. It will be located at the Penn Plaza Pavillion (401 Seventh Avenue at 33rd Street, close to Penn Station). Programming has just been announced.
Kids Day is Sunday which means free admission for children 10 and under. What's missing are workshops for kids that occur at the NYCC.
Guests at this weekend's event will be signing autographs are from around the entertainment world from the past and present. In the superhero department, you'll be able to meet the actors who played Jar-Jar and Anakin as a boy from The Phantom Menace, Adam West and Burt Ward, and artists, colorists and inkers of many superheroes.
Last fall, the Big Apple Comic Con had a very good turn-out. The line getting in was blocks long and there were a lot of entertainment celebrities of the past signing autographs in the autograph pavillion. We blogged about the con right afterwards
We're not sure why Wizard World decided to have this convention just before the New York Comic Con. Originally they announced to have this con on the same weekend as the NYCC, which had been switched from an annual event in February to October.
To appease comic con fans (and their wallets), it would make sense to have one of these in the Fall (NYCC) and one in late Winter/early Spring (Big Apple CC).
Let us know if you're going!
